DSM Nutritional Products, Inc. Innovation Award

Dr. Chyi-Cheng Chen, Birgit Nielsen, Bernd Schlegel and Johann Ulm were the winners of the 4th DSM Nutritional Products, Inc. Innovation Award. The award went to this group of scientists for developing the world’s first formulation of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), which can be pressed into tablets. Due to this innovation, customers interested in CoQ10 have the option to use it in products such as multivitamin tablets. The first product on the market with the DSM formulation was One-Source, one of the largest multivitamin brands in the U.S. Perrigo and Walmart launched the new product in May 2004.
